Who I am and Why I paint
In NC, there is a Mountains-to-Sea Trail that symbolizes my art journey.
I love to hike along mountain ridges, restful valleys and peaceful coastlines. I take in Grand Vistas, Wildlife sightings and Coastal Life.
I relish the chance to slow down and to breathe it in.
By painting and sketching on-site, en plein air, I work to capture a scene, set the stage and tell a story. My color notes, musings and value sketches are the foundation to larger studio pieces. I love to “color my world” but also use values to add depth and meaning. Expressive brushwork conveys energy. My goal is to engage the viewer, not merely as an observer, but as a player in the scene.
